MATTITHYAHU – Matthew 4:4-11
4 But he answered and said, IT IS WRITTEN, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of YAHUAH.
5 Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the Temple,
6 And said unto him, If you be the Son of ELOHIYM, cast yourself down: for IT IS WRITTEN, He shall give his angels charge concerning you: and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.
7 YAHUSHA said unto him, IT IS WRITTEN again, You shall not tempt YAHUAH ELOHAYKA.
8 Again, the devil took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And said unto him, All these things will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me.
10 Then said YAHUSHA unto him, Get you hence, hasatan: FOR IT IS WRITTEN, You shall worship YAHUAH ELOHAYKA, and him only shall you serve.
11 Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Both Yahusha and hasatan quote scripture from the Tanakh authoritatively:
Mat. 4:4 = DEVARIYM – Deuteronomy 8:3 …that he might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of YAHUAH man lives.
Mat. 4:6 = TEHILLIYM – Psalms 91:11-12 For he shall give his angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways. 12 they shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
Mat. 4:7 = DEVARIYM – Deuteronomy 6:16 Ye shall not tempt YAHUAH ELOHYKEM, as ye tempted him in Maccah (Massah). 17 Ye shall diligently guard the commandments of YAHUAH ELOHYKEM, and his testimonies, and his statures, which he has commanded you.
The most important lesson to learn from this is that you are NOT the only one that can quote scripture. 1 out of 4 “It Is Written(s)” was spoken by hasatan. The enemy’s goal is to persuade and convince you to sell your soul in exchange for what he says that he can give you, and by doing so, you become a hasatan worshipper.
Mattithyahu 4:3 labels hasatan as the “tempter.” In what way was Yahusha tempted?
He was tempted to prove identity as the Son of Elohiym–>
- Yahusha’s identity was questioned in verse 3, “IF you be the Son of ELOHIYM,” in order to create a challenge that Yahusha would defend by turning the stones to bread. His flesh was being tested. Stones wouldn’t have been needed as a starting point for a miracle. TMH could have provided him with supernatural food from Heaven just like He did for the children of Yisra’el who were in the desert for 40 years. This is significant because Yahusha fasted 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness. 40 is the number of testing.
- Yahusha’s identity was questioned in verse 6 again, “IF you be the Son of ELOHIYM cast yourself down:” if Yahusha would have casted himself down from the pinnacle of the Temple it would have been because he didn’t trust Yahuah to do what he said he would do for those who dwell in the secret place and dwell under His shadow as stated in TEHILLIYM-Psalms 91:1. The scriptures after that are a continuation of what TMH will do, leading up to verses 11-12. As stated above, this is the 1 scripture that hasatan used regarding what had been “WRITTEN.” Do you really TRUST that TMH is a keeper of His word and that He CANNOT lie, nor can His WORD return to Him VOID. This is something you must know.
- Yahusha’s identity was challenged in verse 8 a third time. hasatan took him up not to a mountain that was “some what” high. No, he took him up into an EXCEEDING high mountain. Yahusha was being shown kingdoms located here on earth and the glory or successes of them in hopes that the desire for earthly power would overtake him. Yahusha understood that he had already been given kingdoms not of this world bc he was and is the Son of Elohiym who created Heaven AND earth. There was nothing that he lacked, nothing broken and nothing missing! NOTHING on this earth could EVER be as valuable as the riches and glory that comes with being a child of TMH. He already had everything that he needed.
SIDE NOTE: A person who’s been elevated to an EXCEEDINGLY high position, social class or rulership role doesn’t mean the TMH was involved with how they attained that position, class or role. Some people have sold their souls to hasatan in exchange for wealth, platforms of influence, media attention and control. These are temporary pleasures that lead to eternal damnation.
It’s beautiful to read in verse 11, how the angels came to minister unto Yahusha after he said, “Get you hence,” speaking of hasatan. TMH didn’t need to be tempted in order for the angels to come. Yahusha didn’t need to fall off of the top of the Temple in order for the angels to come… NO… he being aware of who he was in Elohiym and being in obiedence to His word was enough. TMH knew what he needed and provided.
In conclusion, don’t allow your identity crisis to be what causes you to stumble in times of temptation. One who is secure in who they are in TMH can boldly say “IT IS WRITTEN.” Even when the enemy comes to tempt you, no matter in what form, and is able to also say “IT IS WRITTEN,” you will not be moved because your foundation has not been compromised.
DOUBT = BROKEN FOUNDATION
EVERYONE THAT QOUTES SCRIPTURE TO YOU DOES NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND.
hasatan placed doubt in Chuah’s (Eve’s) mind regarding her identity. She was already complete and there was nothing that she did not know that did not need to be known. She was made from Adam who was made in the image of Elohiym. The earth is still feeling the effects of a doubted identity thousands of years later.
